Our final destination was Uluru, but one of the biggest reasons I wanted to travel by car rather than fly directly there was Coober Pedy. For a long time, I had wanted to see this unusual outback town and, most of all, experience sleeping underground. I had seen photos of underground homes and accommodation before, but I kept wondering what it would actually feel like. Would it really feel like sleeping inside a cave? Would it be dark or uncomfortable? Or would it feel completely different from what I imagined? There was only one way to find out. After a good night’s rest in Adelaide, it was finally time to continue our big Australian road trip. Our ultimate destination is Uluru, but instead of trying to drive all the way there in one day, we planned to stop overnight in Coober Pedy, one of the most unique towns in the Australian Outback. I had been looking forward to this part of our journey so much! We have lived in Australia for many years, but driving through the middle of this enormous country feels completely different from everyday life in Melbourne. And today, our real Outback adventure began. An Early Start – Around 7 AM We knew we had a very long drive ahead of us, so we started our morning early. For breakfast, we kept things simple and had cereal and Weet-Bix at home. Nothing fancy, but perfect before spending a full day on the road!   We’re finally on the road! After looking forward to this trip for such a long time, our Melbourne to Uluru road trip has officially begun. Of course, flying to Uluru would be much faster and easier. But this time, we wanted to experience something different. Instead of flying over the Australian landscape, we decided to drive through it. Our journey will take us from Melbourne to Adelaide, then to Coober Pedy, and finally to Uluru . It’s a long way, but that’s exactly what makes this adventure so exciting. For us, Uluru isn’t the only destination.
